![]() Overall, the violence is graphically restricted, and is no where as bad as say The Walking Dead or other live action zombie movies. If your character dies you are treated to a Dead Space style gruesome dismemberment as the Zombies tear them apart and begin to chow on their organs. Guns can also be used, and players are advised to aim for bloody yet efficient head shots. ![]() Survivors hack away at hordes of fast moving un-dead with table legs, machine blades, and sledgehammers, and can finish them off with an execution, (usually decapitations) blood spurts out of the zombies and skulls make cracking and popping noises. The largest issue content-wise in State of Decay is undoubtedly violence. It's easy to get attached to the characters, and the combat feels much more real because if they die you are responsible for their deaths. If your character dies they are dead forever, you can never play as them again. Most of your time will be spent gathering resources and rescuing other survivors. The best aspect of the game is it's take on survival. That doesn't mean you'll never get in fights, in fact they happen often, but you will never find yourself thinking "I'd like to go pick a fight with a horde" State of Decay does not work like that. ![]() In fact, playing the game smartly will have the player almost never seeking out fights with the un-dead. I have often heard this game compared to the Walking Dead since it focuses a lot on community survival rather then slaughtering zombies.
